Career Opportunities at Tri-County Family Medicine
Tri-County Family Medicine is a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike organization. We provide comprehensive primary care to patients within approximately a thirty-mile radius of Dansville, which is located in Southern Livingston County in Upstate New York.
All TCFM medical staff members are board certified in their specialty.
This includes eight family medicine physicians, one pediatrician, nine family medicine physician assistants and one family medicine nurse practitioner.
The physician assistants and nurse practitioner function in a one-to-one relationship with their supervising physician. In addition to providing cost-effective patient care, they allow the physicians to use their time and talents more effectively.
The practice operates five offices.
The central office is in Dansville located adjacent to URMC/Noyes-Health and four other satellite offices within a twenty-mile span in Geneseo, Nunda, Cohocton and Wayland. This combination of a larger group with smaller individual offices offers the physician the advantage of group coverage and administration, plus the closer patient relationships found in a smaller office.
Tri-County is a non-profit corporation run by the people we serve. Each town where Tri-County has an office selects board members who are responsible for overall development of the organization. A full-time CEO manages the program under the direction of the board.
The practice encompasses the whole range of family medicine.
Tri-County services include adult care, geriatric, pediatrics, obstetrics, minor surgery and psychiatry. In-patient care is delivered at URMC/Noyes-Health in Dansville, a modern 72-bed general hospital.
The hospital medical staff includes specialists in cardiology, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics-gynecology, general surgery, anesthesiology, orthopedics, urology, ophthalmology, ENT, oncology, radiology and pathology. A full range of sub-specialty services are available 50 miles north in Rochester, NY. In our practice, Tri-County shares backup emergency coverage for Tri-County patients with URMC/Noyes-Health ER staff.
Family medicine is the largest specialty at the hospital.
Family physicians have full privileges commensurate with their abilities. These include intensive care unit privileges, obstetrical privileges, the opportunity to assist at surgical cases and perform minor surgery.
Work and Community Life
Tri-County doctors live in or around Dansville, within approximately 10-15 minutes of the hospital and commute to the satellite offices.
This system has several advantages:
- Living closer together provides more group interaction and cohesiveness.
- Night call for the entire practice can easily be shared from a central location.
- The doctors are close to the hospital and can easily attend to emergency problems and obstetrical deliveries.
Night and weekend call is rotated among the doctors. The clinicians also provide office hours for our patients five nights a week and on Saturday mornings. Many physicians cover their own in-patients and maternity cases even when they are not on call, if they are available.
The spirit of academic family medicine that guided our founders continues at Tri-County Family Medicine.
Although not an academic health center, Tri-County is a rural affiliate of the University of Rochester Department of Family Medicine and the University of Buffalo School of Medicine. Several of the physicians have faculty appointments in family medicine.
